The Akhaura Integrated Check Post is the first integrated check post along Agartala-Akhaura which is the India-Bangladesh border and it was jointly inaugurated in the year of 2013 on 17th November. The Chief Minister and Union Home Minister were also present on the occasion at Akhaura Integrated Check Post. Many people travel to the Akhaura Integrated Check Post border to witness the ceremony in which the flags of the two countries are lowered by security personnel with a mutually coordinated performance. Wagah-like infrastructure, including a mini-stadium, would be created at the Agartala (India)-Akhaura (Bangladesh) border to organize a Beating Retreat ceremony like that at the Wagah border with Pakistan. The area is covered with an area of 11.72 acres and this is the only ICP located in the capital city of any other states along with the municipal area. And the border Akhaura Integrated Check Post is the corresponding place in the Bangladesh side. From Agartala Akhaura Integrated Check Post is at a distance of 3.5 kilometers only which is almost 15 minutes' drive. One can reach Akhaura Integrated Check Post by bus, taxi, or by foot from Agartala. There is a public transport service available which departs from Agartala on a daily basis another cheapest way to reach Akhaura Check post from Agartala is by taxi which costs INR 65 to INR 80 per person. One can take a shared taxi or can hire a whole cab. The public bus transport service is operated by Tripura tourism which departs from Agartala station to Akhaura Check post.
