Gangtok and Darjeeling in June

June is considered to be one of the best time to visit Gangtok and Darjeeling. Because of pleasant weather and beautiful views, June remains peak tourists’ season for these areas. Rains are pretty common here from April to September Months, but Monsoon usually hits till later June in this region. Hence, one can comfortably cover both places in June.

Places to visit in Gangtok in June Month:

Hanuman Tok- This temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and located in upper part of Gangtok. Also it is maintained by Indian Army. One can see panoramic view of Khangchendzonga Range on one side and road to Tsomgo Lake on other side.

Tashi View Point- 7 kms from main town, Tashi View Point gives a mesmerizing view of Great Himalayas on a clear day. Also if weather is cloudy, views of North Sikkim mountains can be a different experience. It should be in the list of things to do in Gangtok.

Rumtek Monastery- Also known as Dharmachakra Centre, this Gompa was built under the direction of Wangchuk Dorje, 9th Karmapa Lama in the mid-18th century. One can get an amazing Gangtok town view from here.

Places to visit in Darjeeling in June Month:

Tiger Hill: Tiger Hill in Darjeeling is situated at 2600 meters above sea level and is the major attraction point of Darjeeling. Come here to see sunrise and beauty of Himalayan Ranges.

Japanese Peace Pagoda: Inaugurated on 1st November, 1992, in Darjeeling, Peace Pagoda houses four avatars of Buddha including Maitreya Buddha. The prayer timings are from 4:30am to 6am in the morning and again from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the evening. It’s one the best tourist spot of Darjeeling.

Toy Train Joy Ride: The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is a UNESCO Wolrd Heritage Site and taking a ride in it is itself an experience. It’s a 2 feet gauge railway which was built in 1881. It should be in the list of things to do in Darjeeling.

Tea State: Darjeeling produces one of the finest Tea in the world. Taking a walk in Tea Estate can be an amazing experience for anyone.
