Okhrey

Okhrey is a small village situated in West Sikkim. Okhrey is mostly inhabited by Sherpa & Bhutia's communities and are predominantly occupied with agriculture. The nearest town from Okhrey is Sombaria at a distance of around 20 kilometres. Okhrey has become famous as is the gateway to the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary as well as the meeting point of the Chewa trail which leads to Darjeeling hill in the south, Sikkim hill in the north and west wards into Nepal.

Ribdi Bhareng

Ribdi Bhareng – are small yet very beautiful twin villages in West Sikkim. It’s ideal  place to visit where one can explore a fresh air, fresh water, fresh vegetables, and the local Sherpas  community. The Sherpas are known for their conservation and protect of  natural environment. Ribdibhareng also known for the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary with its rhododendron trees, beautiful birds, and if one is lucky chance upon Red Pands. Not to miss tasting pure rhododendron wine which is also known as the medicine.


Okhrey Monastery

Okhrey Monastery - Okhery Ugen Thondroling Monastery was built in 1950 by Sherpa Buddhist Followers. It is situated on a hilltop above Okhery Village and performs all the religious ceremonies throughout the year. This monastery was handed over its charge to H.E. Dodrubchen Rinpoche of Choten Monastery at Gangtok in the year 1986. It follows Nyingmapa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism.


Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary

Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary - The Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary occupies 104 km² in the Singalila Range in western Sikkim. It borders on Nepal to the west and on the state of West Bengal to the south across the Ramam Khola stream. The sanctuary is famous for varieties of Rhododendron and Magnolias. The protected area is also home to the state animal Red Panda The rhododendrons bloom during March and April.


Gorkhey village

Gorkhey village – Just across the Rammam Khola (river) is the village of Gorkhey which lies in the relatively flat area. The villagers are mostly dependent on farming and tourism. The twin village of Samden is a beautiful scenic hamlet in the remote part of Darjeeling District. A very beautiful village surrounded by the thick forest. 


Phoktey Dara

Phoktey Dara – A prevalent pristine jungle trail with charming beauty of panoramic High Nepal/Sikkim ranges is difficult to describe Phoktey Dara trek. This is also approachable from the village of Uttrey.
