Gangtok is the capital and the largest town in Sikkim. It was established as a Buddhist pilgrimage in 1840 by the then-monarch of the region. It is located in a place called Rumtek. It is one of the biggest monastery in Gangtok. Also known as Dharnachakra Centre. It belongs to the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. It was founded by the 9th Karmapa Lama. It is one of the famous monasteries amongst the locals as well as tourists.
(3) Enchey Monastery
It is located at an altitude of 5800 feet; Echey monastery is located at Echey Gaon. The monastery is known for its excellent tranquility. The village is surrounded by rich flora and one can witness amazing mountains from there. The monastery is beautified with colorful flowers surrounding it. This hilltop monastery is a must-visit of Gangtok.
