Manipur is one of the beautiful northeastern states of India bounded by Nagaland, Mizoram, Myanmar, and Assam. Also known as the jewelled town of India, it rightly justifies the picturesque land. Surrounded by nine hills and the presence of an oval-shaped valley at the centre, it really does look like jewellery. (1) Imphal – Manipur

The capital city of Imphal is one of the ancient cities of India. It’s known for its scenic landscapes and untouched natural beauty. Once you visit this place, you will be stunned by the greenery, undulating rivers, unexplored areas, and beautiful surroundings. 

Local attractions: Manipur State Museum, Loktak Lake, Kangla Fort, Langthabal, Shri Govindjee Temple, and war cemeteries.

(2) Senapati – Manipur

Senapati is one of the beautiful places to visit in Manipur with 80% of the area covered in verdant forests. Any nature lover must visit this place to explore the woodland and enjoy the fresh air. The rest of the place is inhabited by Manipuri villagers. Senapati is blessed with nature’s bounty. It is a simple yet intriguing hideout. While exploring the woods in this place, you can visit the village; the villagers always have something special to cook for you. You might want to pick up some local recipes as well.

(3) Ukhrul – Manipur

(4) Andro – Manipur

Andro is a small village located in close proximity to the capital of Manipur and is also one of the most beautiful places to visit. Andro is famous for pottery craftsmanship, and the art of the locals always attracts the attention of tourists. Andro welcomes tourists and visitors throughout the year in large numbers making this place a famous tourist destination. The art of pottery craftsmanship has been passed to the locals down many generations and hence, apart from this art, you might also learn some things about the history associated with it.

(8) Khongjom – Manipur

Khongjom is one of the places that hold historic significance in Manipur. It pays tribute to the military and martyrs who fought with the British during their reign. The revered major general Paono Brajabashi and his troops are still remembered today in this place. Khongjom is one of the places in Manipur where the Anglo-Manipur war took place. A memorial is built in remembrance of these brave fighters in this place, and if you are someone interested in the military and the history of wars, you must visit Khongjom in Manipur.
