Tawang is a small town nestled at an altitude of 11,500 ft. in one of the smallest districts in Arunachal Pradesh. It’s known for its ancient monasteries, especially the 400-year-old Tawang Monastery. It’s also the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. 

HOW TO GET THERE

By air: The nearest airport is Salonibari Airport in Tezpur, Assam

By rail: The nearest major railway station to Tawang is Rangapara Railway Station, Tezpur.

By road: Buses, taxis, and shared taxis ply from Tezpur (Assam) and Bomdila.
