Tawang is a small town nestled at an altitude of 11,500 ft. in one of the smallest districts in Arunachal Pradesh. It’s known for its ancient monasteries, especially the 400-year-old Tawang Monastery. It’s also the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama.

By rail: The nearest major railway station to Tawang is Rangapara Railway Station, Tezpur.
