Located 125 km away from Gangtok in North Sikkim. Lachung has many connotations. It is a river, a Valley, a quaint hamlet and also small mountain. Situated at 8,000feet near the confluence of the Lachen and Lachung rivers, the picturesque spot was a centre of trade with Tibet till 1950. Today, it is permanent army base. It is a village with a unique local self- governing body called the DZUMSA which substitutes the Panchayat.
