The Kedareswara Temple of Hajo is one of the must-visit tourist attractions and it is the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is beautifully located in the Hill of Madanachala. The Kedareswara Temple is one of the oldest temples in the Indian subcontinent. It is the Hindu temple and the temple has many inscriptions written on the walls and according to this, it is believed that the temple was established by the king from Ahom Dynasty, Rajeswar Singha in the year of 1753. The uniqueness of this temple lies in the fact that it has the rare self-originated phallic symbol, or Swayambhu Linga, that too in the Ardhanariswara, or androgynous form. The linga is generally kept covered in a metal bowl. The Kedareswara Temple is one of the important temples in India therefore, apart from the religious pilgrimage tourist, history and archaeology enthusiasts also often visit this beautiful temple of Shiva in Hajo of Assam. This temple enshrines a huge Shivalinga, made of stone, which is popularly known as the Svayambhu Linga. This temple is entirely dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is mainly stated as Lord Kedareshwar by local people. It is a great place to go. There are other popular places of tourist attractions in Hajo and they are Powa Mecca mosque and Hayagriva Madhava Temple, both the places are sacred places of different faiths. The nearest airport is Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport of Guwahati and the nearest railway station is also in Guwahati from both the place one can take a private cab or take another mode of transportation to reach Hajo. From the town Hajo, one can take an auto-rickshaw or hire a taxi to reach the destination. Winter season is the best time to visit Hajo in Assam since during winter season the temperature is normal and the environments seem good and airy.
