A game of golf is one of the finest games in the world with millions of fans across the globe. Some of the golf players including Tiger Woods have really outshined their personality on the global stage. Today, there are millions of people in the world who know such golf stars. The golf is really a fantastic game, and when we talk about the golf slice, we can say that it is a kind of shot hit by a golf player by which the ball swings to the left taking a curve turn and then dashing forward to the right of the target. The way the golf ball takes its turn followed by its slice trajectory is colloquially called as “banana ball”. This kind of shot is played inadvertently, and if the golf slice is shot by an amateur, it usually follows ‘mishit’ from the novice golfer.

Cause of golf slice

An experienced golfer doesn’t hit the ball randomly. Firstly, he understands the basic of golf swing and observes the original spot at impact and evaluates the situation to hit the ball squarely and straight. Here, the club face or blade which is narrowly open to the impact side causes the golf slice, because it happens when the ball moves in clockwise motion. Due to the “weak grip”, most of the time, despite having clear swing path, the ball is not being squarely hit at the point of impact. Sometimes, shaft swiftness and swing speed become reasons for golf slice.

How to fix golf slice

One of the first things that you can do to fix the golf slice is that you should focus on your grip. Weak grip is the prime reason behind golf slice and hence, you have to make sure about the stronger grip by turning your grip slightly into left (this is for lefties). This ensures a firm grip that means, to hold the club neither too tightly nor lightly. Also make sure that your wrist and forearms are at ease and they don’t have any problem while holding the club in right grip.

You must also focus on increasing the swing speed by bringing your club back straight and swing it at full potential. Also make sure that the label on the ball is pointed in you desired direction when teeing it up. This will eventually help you focus on the ball without looking upward. The way you stand also matters to fix the golf slice. Stand erect while ensuring that your knees are bent slightly. Make sure that the ball is lined up with front foot, ensure comfortable grip on the club, your eyes on the ball while the mind is clear. Now you are ready to hit the ball in fairway.

The tips mentioned above will help you fix gold slice problem. However, don’t leave practice and focus on right grip. Most golf slice is caused by weak grip and so, you should be focused on it. Practice hard and it will help you fix the golf slice completely.
