Champhai is a bustling commercial town at the Indo-Myanmar border that offers plenty of tourist attractions. Apart from its natural beauty, Champhai has interesting places to visit and is a storehouse of ancient relics, monuments, and memorials of legends and folklore. Situated at a distance of 192 km from Aizawl, the town stands at an elevation of 1678 mts. Champhai is also known as the “fruit and rice bowl of Mizoram” because of the large production of rice and grapes. Champhai has many places to visit like Tluangtea Puk, Far Puk, Mura Puk, Kungawrhi Puk and Tialpari Puk. One of the must-visit caves in the northeastern state of Mizoram is Far Puk, the cave is situated in the district of Champhai of Mizoram and it is near Farkawn and Vaphai village. To reach the cave one need to walk downhill and it is a rock shelter consisting of an approximately 50 mts long ledge which is in the average of 1 to 2 mts wide and situated halfway up and east-facing cliff at a linear distance of 3 km north of Farkawn. This site is expected to be a place of great archaeological significance as it provides natural shelter. There are other places to visit in and around Champhai like a market place at Champhai is a shopper's paradise. You can find an array of household items, clothes, cosmetics, and electronics at bargain prices. Champhai is believed to be the entry point and settlement of the first Mizo migrants to India, Champhai has a rich heritage background. At Champhai’s tiny villages and hamlets are monuments and monoliths that depict success in war, hunting, personal grieves, and achievements. There are also beautifully preserved landmarks wherein legends and folk lore's were spun. Champhai with its intriguing landscape, historic sites, and modern-day development makes it an appealing tourist destination for all types of tourists. Champhai is very well connected by road and one can reach by any mode of transportation to Champhai since the route from Aizawl city the major town of Mizoram to Champhai is well maintained and public bus services and a taxis like sumo services are available throughout the week. The drive from Aizawl to Champhai is approximately 8 hours drive.
