Cooking methods: How to use a Dutch oven:

This is one of the oldest and most popular types of cooking in the outdoors. These can be used for shallow frying, deep fat frying, roasting, baking and stewing. A rule of thumb for the number of briquettes is a pan size +2 for the top, and pan size –2 for the bottom.  This will give you about 350-375° for 2-2 ½ hours. For longer times you will need to add briquettes. To save on briquettes, stack your ovens if using more than one. Never store a dirty oven. You should clean well and rub with oil before storing.

How to use a Box oven:

A box oven is good for baking. Line a box with aluminum foil and make sure your pan is smaller than the box. Place briquettes on foil on the ground—one briquette per 40 degrees of desired heat. You then place the pan or rack on top of soda or soup cans and place box over, using a rock to prop up one corner for ventilation.

How to use a Propane stove:

A propane stove is good for stovetop type pan or griddle cooking. It is also good for foil cookingFind Article, and funky no-utensil cooking.
