Castle of Beino is found at the western region of Saiha in the Southern part of Mizoram. The region boasts of a mesmerizing rock formation that resembles a castle. It is known for its geological marvel, which is a craftsmanship of nature, set in the pristine river of Koladyne. The castle-like rock formation towers 10 metres high on both sides of the river.
The boat journey starts from the village Lomasu to Saphaw, which is where the castle of Beino can be sighted. This least frequented destination still holds an untold beauty that needs to be witnessed.
A motorboat can be hired that will cost anywhere between INR 1500 to INR 2000 which is quite reasonable. A local guide with a good knowledge of the area can also be hired. Access to Saphaw is via Tuidang on the Lai District side or Lungdar( Lodaw) in Saiha District. The route to Lungdar is from Kawlchaw to Phura whereas Tuidang is accessible from Lawngtlai via Bungtlang South.

This unfrequented destination must be explored with one’s own eyes for its untold beauty to be unraveled. It is said that the River Queen of Spirits inhabits the place acting as an ombudsman. Castle of Beino is surrounded with folklore, and locals consider it as cursed.
The best time to visit it is between the months of February and May and it is not accessible during the monsoon. One can hire a private car from Saiha or take a Sumo service upto Phura. It is however advisable to hire a private vehicle.
