One of the beautiful waterfalls of Mizoram is Vaipuanpho waterfalls which is hard to miss as it is quite close to Aizwal - Reiek Road. Even though the waterfall is seasonal yet it’s important as the location is surrounded by green forest and a campsite which is famous for butterflies.
There is a flower farm near the falls which exports cut flowers to the rest of the country. The views of Aizawl city across the valley are amazing from this farm. There is a hotel which is meant for the locals but the visitors can also stay whenever it is possible. En route to Vaipuanpho waterfall, there are numerous waterfalls and during the monsoon season, even the small and seasonal waterfalls like Vaipuanpho also becomes s huge and wonderful waterfalls.
To reach the Vaipuanpho waterfalls one needs to trek and stop overnight and during monsoon season the trekking will be on tarmac road as the mountain road becomes slippery and muddy. The camp at Vaipunho is beside a small brook. People from Aizwal occasionally come here to fish in the brook. Beside the Vaipunho camp is Tuithun waterfall. Do not be put off by the dangerous steps to climb to the Tuithun waterfall. There is a huge flower farm near the campsite and worth visiting. Floral export has become a big income earner in Mizoram. The nearest airport to reach Vaipuanpho Falls is Lengpui Airport of Aizawl and the nearest railway station is Silchar railway station of Assam, the drive from Silchar railway station to Aizawl is approximately 6 hours and a number of cab services are available from the Silchar railway station. If you are travelling by road then it is also one of the best options since Aizawl is well connected with other states via road and the mode of transportation available are buses, private taxis and etc.
