Jalbire is considered one of the best canyoning spots in Nepal given its natural rocky slides and jumping pools. Relatively lesser known than most tourist destinations in Nepal, Jalbire is slowly gaining popularity in recent years among visitors both in and outside the country. Located in Chitwan district in Terai region, it is covered with plain grassland.

Mostly popular among youngsters and adventure seekers, Jalbire has a huge tourism prospect given its location, accessibility, and natural beauty.

Lamo Jharana or the long waterfall

People visit Jalbire for its amazing waterfall. Plummeting 60 m from the rocky surface into a small pond of water down below, the water gives chills when it touches your body and hits you with such force that it feels like you are being pelted with thousands of hailstones. When you are right underneath the fall and observe the water above, it feels like the water is falling from heaven.

The uphill hike to the waterfall takes you through a small friendly Gurung settlement enclosed within high green hills. Sixty meters tall, Jalbire waterfall provides a panoramic view of green hills that surround it. Along with the waterfall itself, there are three small ponds where people can relax, swim, and have fun in the hot and humid summer of Terai. Witnessing this huge waterfall up close is a majestic experience.
