Buddhist Stupa, Boxanagar: With the wearing away of natural forest area, ruins emerged in the northwestern part of Sonamura Sub-Division on the edge of the border with Bangladesh. The natives at first identified the remains as a prehistoric temple of Manasa - the goddess of snakes. The Archeological Survey of India soon took over the entire area, and after finding a statue of Lord Buddha, were convinced that it was a Buddha Temple. After more digging and research, the true hidden story of the Buddhist Stupa was uncovered.
