Swimming is considered by many people the best forms of activity for those who want to loose some weight. It all makes perfect sense when you know the number of calories burned swimming. This article will present some thoughts on loosing weight by means of swimming.

Swimming uses most of your major muscle groups and that alone is quite impressive. There is not so many sport activity that are able of doing that, that is for sure. While swimming you exercise most of the muscles in your body. However, it has to be emphasized that the upper part of your body (arms and chest) are more work than your legs. If you want to activate your legs more, try doing the breast stroke which will be more effective than front crawl.

When you swim at a slow pace, you burn more or less the same number of calories as you would by walking fast. Obviously, faster swimming will result in burning more calories.

For that reason it is not a popular exercises included in weight loss plans. It is also viewed as activity that requires special skills but the truth is that everyone can learn to swim and enjoy the benefits of this sport. Another thing to remember while swimming is to keep track of time and keep an eye on the clock. It is good to know how long you should be swimming at your level and not to exceed that limit to much. It is quite easy to calculate how many calories you can burn during a certain period of time spent swimming. That is why a good countdown timer may always come in handy.
