Tucked in between the mountains and lush green valleys of Arunachal Pradesh, Ziro is an attractive quaint town in the Lower Subaniri district of Arunachal Pradesh. It is an entrancing holiday destination that magnetizes travellers with its hypnotic charm. Some of the reasons why Ziro is special include:

(1) Great weather: Ziro experiences a mild climate throughout the year which makes it comfortable to travel.

(2) Natural beauty: The hills of Ziro are dotted with terraced rice fields, picturesque trails lined with tall pretty pines, lush bamboo forests, and vibrant flora.

(3) Apanati Tribe: Ziro is home to the Apatani tribe, the oldest tribe of Arunachal Pradesh. Their unique cultivation methods and facial tattoos have caught the eye of UNESCO which proposed Apatani Valley be added to the list of World Heritage Sites.

(4) Ziro Festival of Music: This annual outdoor music festival held brings bands from all over Northeast India to perform at the 3-day fest. It’s one of the most anticipated music festivals in India.

BEST TIME TO VISIT ZIRO

Summer: During summer, between April and June, the place becomes warm but not blazing hot. You may visit Ziro in these months to experience the warmth of the hills.

Winter: The winter in Arunachal Pradesh is between October to March and this can be an appropriate time of the year for most of the visitors to visit Ziro. You will be able to enjoy the views at this time of the year also but warm woollen clothes must be carried to beat the chill weather.

Monsoon: Monsoon ranges from July to September, which are also quite pleasant months to enjoy the valleys but is not recommended to visit Ziro at these times due to the close proximity to neighbouring states where flood in monsoon are quite common in these neighbouring states. Hence to avoid any kind of difficulties during your trip you may avoid visiting Ziro during monsoon.

HOW TO REACH:

Ziro is around 115 km away from the capital Itanagar and takes approximately 3 ½ hours to reach. 

By Air: Lilabari in Assam is the nearest airport at a distance of 67 km. There are connecting flights to Guwahati from Lilabari.

By Train: Harmuti is the nearest railway station at a distance of 33 km from Ziro.
