A very dear place for the Bhutanese is the mesmerizing statue of Lord Buddha at the top of a hill, overlooking Thimphu city, the capital of Bhutan. Commonly called Buddha Point, The statue of Buddha Dordenma is a sight to behold in all.  The Great Buddha Dordenma is sited amidst the ruins of Kuensel Phodrang, the palace of Sherab Wangchuck, the thirteenth Desi Druk of Bhutan. Not only that, the humongous statue of Buddha is also surrounded by statues of female goddesses known as Bodhisattvas.
