Marmang village is on the way to Tawang from Sela Pass or Sela Lake. The distance from Tawang town to Sela pass or Sela Lake is approximately 78 kilometers. The Sela Pass or Sela Lake is in the high altitude mountain pass located in Tawang District the state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. There are two routes to reach Tawang from Guwahati by roads and both the routes take approximately the same time and distance. The first route which goes through NH13 (National Highway 13) is slightly shortened and a little bit of traffic since it is the National Highway route. One can start from Guwahati to Baihata to Sipajhar to Kalaigoan to Bhairabkund to Kalaktang to Rupa to Rahung to Marmang and Tawang the distance is approximately 500 kilometers and overnight stay is must in any of the places wherever the accommodation options are available. The second route to reach Tawang from Guwahati, one needs to start from Guwahati to Khetri to Nagoan to Kaliabor to Tezpur to Balipara to Bhalukpong to Bomdila to Dirang to Marmang to Tawang. Taking the second route one can avoid traffic and can have a relaxed and smooth drive. Most people prefer to reach Tawang by taking the second route and staying overnight in Bhalukpong or Bomdila or Dirang since the distance covered from Guwahati to Tawang is almost the same as the first route. There are many other places to visit in Bomdila, Bhalukpong, Dirang and other places while traveling to Tawang but from both the way one will cross the Marmang village which is near Sela Pass or Sela Lake.
