Preserving the natural environment and promoting its importance has always been one of the top priorities of the people living in the hills, and Darjeeling is no different. An eco-farm at Bijanbari located in an offbeat track (90-min drive from Darjeeling) is one such example.

Baasbari Farms is only a 45-min drive from Jorethang, South Sikkim, and 26 km from Ghoom, Darjeeling. This farm rewards its visitors with calm natural surroundings, beautiful sights of nature, rivers, and the sounds of natural forests. It is an eco-friendly farm amid a dense forest in Darjeeling and is a perfect place to recover from the hullaballoo of hectic life. Also, a good thing for the people who hate long walks is that the vehicles reach up to the farm.

A bamboo cottage at the farm

This farm was established in 2015 by Mr. Nawraj Pradhan of Darjeeling to preserve the environment, promote bamboo culture, and also to serve as a platform where the visitors can rest and relax. Baasbari Farms is totally a plastic-free zone and aims to serve as a model sustainable initiative.

This farm houses exquisitely designed bamboo cottages and tented camps for visitors to stay and also has vegetable farms. In 2017, Mr Pradhan gave the responsibility of running the farm to his brother – Dipesh Pradhan and since then, Dipesh has been taking care of the farm with the help of 7 people.
