The oldest monasteries in Asia are Lhagyala Gompa which is in Morshing Village in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh in India. The Lhagyala Gompa is situated in the mountainside and the view of the village Morshing is mesmerizing. The nearest town Rupa is almost 60 kilometers away from Lhagyala Gompa and the 80 kilometers away from the headquarter Bomdila. In the 7th Century Kachen Lama constructed the Lhagyala Gompa and the Gompa plays an important role in the socio-political and religious life of the entire area and it is the same Gompa was Khandro Drowa Zangmo was born. The term ‘Lhagyala’ means a repository of more than a hundred large icons. The Gompa is a sacred place for the followers of Buddhism and many Buddhist people visit the Lhagyala Gompa to offer prayers and goodwill for a family and the nations. The Lhagyala Gompa is next in position after Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh. The Lhagyala Gompa has a very interesting history to tell and apart from that the Lhagyala Gompa offers a mesmerizing view of the hilly mountain, Sanglem, Domkho which are located in the valley thereby making it an out of the world experience for visitors. A person of Morshing village where the Lhagyala Gompa is located wants people to visit the place from around the world and explore the unexplored beautiful villages and the monastery. The Lhagyala Gompa is easily accessible via road and taxis are easily available to reach Lhagyala Gompa. The nearest airport is Tezpur airport and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport of Guwahati; both the airports are in the state of Assam in India. The distance from Tezpur airport to Rupa town is approximately 138 Kilometers and from Rupa to reach Lhagyala Gompa it is again approx 60 kilometers so one needs to take a taxi from the airport to reach the destination. The nearest railway station is Bhalukpong/Tezpur/Guwahati and the distance is also quite long from the railway station to Lhagyala Gompa so again a traveler needs to take a cab to reach the Lhagyala Gompa. Since West Kameng district is well connected by road and the travelers who travel by road will really enjoy the journey. Daily Bus services are also available from Bomdila to Tezpur, Guwahati and Itanagar and one can even hire a private taxi to reach Rupa and Lhagyala Gompa.
