On the way to Dawki the first and the must stop place is Elephant falls which is locally known as Ka Kshaid Lai Pateng Khohsiew, which translates to "the three - step waterfall". Elephant Falls is 12 km from busy town of Shillong in East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. The unique part of Elephant Falls is that, it is a two-tier waterfall set in the dingles of the rocks. These curved falls is very eye-catching beauty and the green vegetation surrounding makes it a perfect picnic spot. This beautiful fall is made of three smaller falls and the combined stream adorns the fern-covered rocks below. It can be visited round the year. Monsoon is the best time to visit Elephant Falls, as water current is good and surrounding greenery adds the value to location. There are small shops where you can buy the souvenirs.
