Here are some of Bhutan's popular destinations:

Palden Tashi Chholing Shedra- Phuentsholing

Palden Tashi Chholing Shedra is located in Phuentsholing, which serves as the gateway to Bhutan. The Palden Tashi Chholing Shedra serves as a Buddhist College which was sanctified in 2014. In the Tsuglhakhang (assembly hall), we come across some of the finest wall paintings.

Punakha Dzong- Punakha

The Punakha Dzong has the honour of being the second largest Dzong in Bhutan. The structure dates back to 1637 and is credited to Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The monastery also houses the remains of Tertön Pema Lingpa and Ngawang Namgyal. The monastery is also noted for its beautiful and intricate paintings.

Tiger's Nest - Paro

The Tiger's Nest is also renowned as the Taktsang Monastery and is an important landmark in Paro. Some believe that, Guru Padmasambhava (who supposedly introduced Buddhism in Bhutan) meditated in this place after he flew to this area on a flying tigress.

Tashichho Dzong- Thimpu

The Tashichho Dzong in Thimpu houses thirty shrines. Dating back to 1968, the monastery served as the centre of power of the Bhutanese Government. Inside we come across the Throne Room, Cabinet Secretariat and other offices like the Ministries of Finance and Home Affairs.

Tamzhing Monastery- Bumthang Valley

The Tamzhing Lhuendrup Monastery is a Nyingma Monastery of utmost importance in Bhutan. Known for supporting approximately 95 monks, the monastery is in the tentative list of the World Heritage Sites. The monastery also serves as a seat of Sungtrul Rinpoche, who is supposedly the incarnation of Pema Lingpa.

Galem's House- Punakha

Located close to the Punakha Dzong, the Galem's House is a popular attraction for the visitors. The three- storeyed structure was supposedly owned by Changyul Bum Galem, a beautiful woman who is known by the people for her tragic love story with a man from a lower economic status.

Haa Valley

We also get to ride on the Haa Valley, which is surrounded by thick forests. The area is historically significant as it served as a trade route to Tibet in the ancient times. Here we come across the Black and White Temple, Tagchu Goemba which is 100 years old and Shekhar Drak which is a unique shrine.

The aforementioned places paint Bhutan as a nation which is brimmed with happiness.
