The Don Bosco Museum in Shillong (also known as the Don Bosco Center of Indigenous Cultures) is more than just a museum. It is an institution that has its own publications, research wing, newsletter and a calendar full of cultural activities.
The Don Bosco Museum of Indigenous Cultures is spread over seven floors and displays cultural artefacts of various tribes of the North East States of India. The exhibits in this museum are divided into categories such as costumes, musical instruments, utensils, weapons, ornaments, housing styles, and languages. Of late, the museum has also added a food gallery in the premises which provides authentically prepared recipes belonging to tribal groups. The museum building also provides a beautiful view of the city of Shillong.
