Visit Mawlynnong in Meghalaya – a quaint little village located in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya in Northeast India. Also referred to as 'God's own garden', Mawlynnong has won the acclaim of being the cleanest village in Asia in 2003. This village that is known for its cleanliness is located around 90 kms from Shillong, the capital city of Meghalaya and is a community based eco-tourism initiative.
Apart from cleanliness, the village has achieved a number of other things, namely 100 percent literacy rate and also boasts of a women empowerment scenario that the rest of the world can learn from.
