The Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed to open 137 mountain peaks for foreigners who desires to obtain for Mountaineering Visa. According to the information released by MHA, those foreigners who want to apply for Mountaineering Visa (‘MX’) in India can visit these peaks located in four states.
Below is a list of 137 mountain peaks located in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Jammu-Kashmir. Most numbers of 51 peaks have been opened in Uttarakhand while 15 in Jammu-Kashmir. This step can encourage adventure tourism in India.
List of Major Peaks
Jammu & Kashmir - Kailash, Umasi , Cerro Kisthwar, Tanak, Agyasol, Barmal Chomochior, Golapkangri, and Eiger among others.
Uttarakhand - Balakun, Kalidhang, Bharigu Parbat, Bhrigupanth, Avalanche, and Chirbas Parbat are some of the peaks opened up here
Sikkim - Kabru South, Kabru North, Kabru Dome, Gocha peak, Forked peak, Jopono, and Kangchenzunga South.
Himachal Pradesh - Kullu Makalu, Kullu Pumori, Kullu Eiger, Fluted peak, Parbati South, and Pyramid mountain.
