North Lakhimpur

North Lakhimpur is the district head-quarter of Lakhimpur district of Assam. It is located in the north-eastern corner of Assam. North Lakhimpur is the major commercial hub for people in eastern Arunachal Pradesh.  The principal attraction of the place is its natural beauty. The forests and rivers create an ambiance typical of the North East full of greenery, tranquility, and peace. There are several temples of historical significance around which are also attractive tourist destinations. Lakhimpur district is also the gateway to several districts of Arunachal Pradesh including its capital Itanagar.

Pabha or Milroy Sanctuary

The beautiful Pabha Sanctuary, known equally well as the Milroy Sanctuary, is situated in the Lakhimpur District of Assam, an official government state in India. Although it is the natural habitat of many different animal- and plant species, this sanctuary was designed to protect the magnificent Asiatic Water Buffalo. It is fairly small, measuring less than 50 square kilometers, but is a beautiful and fascinating reserve for the protection and preservation of this species. The Milroy Sanctuary is a popular tourist destination, luring travelers from all over India and the world. Its natural scenery is gorgeous, creating a spectacle for the eye and lasting memories of the stunning land of India. The best time to visit the park in terms of its weather pattern as well as the proliferation of animals is between the months of November and April.

Leteku Pukhuri

Leteku pukhuri is located in the town of Narayanpur. Narayanpur is famous as birthplace of Madhabdev. Narayanpur, originally known as Bor-Narayanpur (great Narayanpur), is a historical place since kamata kingdom . Narayanpur was earlier known as Bor-Nararayanpur. It was extended up to the Kolabari region of Sonitpur district. Various history writers had different views regarding the origin of the place as well as the origin of its name. It was once the capital of the Chutiya King Satyanarayan. ASome others have the view that Koch King Naranarayan used this place as a garrison, that’s why the name became Narayanpur.


Narua Satra

Damodar Ata the grand son of Srimanta Sankara Deva established this satra in the 17th century as Laumura Satra. However, the plot of the which was originally donated by Chutia king Satyanarayan was transferred to many people many times. This led to the name na-rua which might mean 'not stay'. The name Basudev is related to the Assamese word for lord Vishnu. According to the local people, Rukmini  made the statue of Basudev for her desire to marry him
