You will be heading to Bhutan’s capital city, Thimphu today. Besides being the administrative center, it is known for many important Buddhist sites.
After breakfast, you will drive to the beautiful Thimphu valley. The scenery is absolutely stunning. As it’s a long drive, you will make a stopover for lunch.
If you make it to Thimphu on time, you can quickly visit Tashichho Dzong. The Dzong is a Buddhist monastery cum fortress at the northern edge of Thimpu.Stay Details : Hotel Shantideva , Thimphu / Similar
Today’s going to be an exciting day as you explore the city of Thimphu. From stunning Bhutanese architecture to the country’s odd-looking national animal, you will behold Bhutan’s uniqueness at every stopover.
Soon after breakfast, your sightseeing tour begins. You will be covering the following places:
Kuensel Phodrang: It’s the world’s largest sitting Buddha statue at 167 feet high situated on top of a hill overlooking the city. The word kuensel means everything is clear, and from this place you can enjoy a great view of the Thimphu Valley on both sides.
Motithang Takin Preserve: The Motithang Takin Preserve is also known as the Thimphu Zoo by many. It is a small natural preserve for the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal. It was originally a mini zoo but was later converted to a preserve.
Memorial Chorten: Referred to as Memorial Chorten, its actual name is Gongzo Chorten or Gyaldren Chorten. The chorten (stupa) is a chief landmark in the capital city and is also the most sacred place of worship for the local people.
Once your tour is complete, you will drive to the historic town of Paro, which has Bhutan’s sole international airport.
If interested, you can make a detour to Dochula Pass, which is at an altitude of 3100 m above sea level. If the day is sunny, you can make a stop here and witness a spectacular view of the majestic eastern Himalayan ranges.
You will be staying for the night in Paro. We advise you to get a good night’s rest as you have a 2-3 hour hike coming up the next day.

Haven’t we all gushed over pictures and postcards of the cliffside monastery called Tiger’s Nest? Well, it’s time to get featured in one yourself. Get ready to hike up to this magnificent monastery this morning.
After an early breakfast, we will drive you to the base of Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). It is the most famous and sacred site among all the places in Bhutan. You have to walk about 2 hours till the top through wide pathways that were built during the restoration works. You will also find a tea point after a 1-hour climb. From there, you get a very good view of the monastery. They also serve lunch here. From there it’s about another 45-minute climb to the 2nd viewpoint and the highest point of the hike.
During the evening, explore the interesting streets and markets of Paro before heading back to your hotel.
Paro – Chele La Pass – Phuentsholing
Nothing can prepare you to the views you’ll get to see this morning, as you drive through a thickly forested road leading up to Chele La Pass, the highest motorable road pass. The pass provides stunning views of the sacred mountain Jhomolhari and Jichu Drake. You’ll also be able to see cascades of wild roses, purple and yellow primulas, and swathes of deep blue iris covering the forest floor.
Lock all the beautiful sights in your mind as we drive you back to Phuentsholing. You will stop for lunch at Wangkha and can do some shopping here.

Wake up to a relaxed morning. After breakfast, you can head to Phuentsholing market for some shopping. Once you’re done, we will drive you to Bagdogra airport or N.J.P. railway station.
