A 110km biking tour ride from Thimphu to Paro and back again, along the winding roads with the sound of the rushing river and smiling by-passers will certainly be a pleasant experience for you. Starting from Thimphu downtown, you will cycle on flat highway, with the river rushing below and rice paddies and shops alongside. Stop over at Chhuzom confluence to see local farmers sit by the side of the road selling vegetables, apples and dried cheese.
A short way beyond, on the
right side of river is the Tachogang Lhakhang built in 15th century by
Thangthong Gyelpo, a trader who first introduced Iron Bridges in Bhutan. If you
wish, bike down the dirt road towards the rushing river. From here, continue on
to Paro. Enjoy exquisite Bhutanese lunch and bike around the valley with short
stops at important cultural sites. Afternoon, bike back the same way. If you
feel exhausted, take a ride on your support vehicle enjoying the scenery.
